FOODIE FRIDAY: ACTON & SONS, BELFAST LAUNCH Eyelinerflicks

Last night I popped along to the launch of Acton & Sons restaurant - Situated on Brunswick Street, in the heart of Belfast's Linen quarter.

Previously known as Olios - a restaurant I frequently visited in the past as it was ideal for pre-theatre or a tasty lunch while working in the City Centre and had the best scampi in town; the new Acton & Sons offers comfort food and all-day brasserie classics, served in the newly refurbished, stylish surroundings.

Think distressed brick, cosy sofas, antique lighting and reclaimed wood in a relaxing setting.  It really is just stunning.

Owned by the Davis family (Skandia Group) the masterminds behind Neill's Hill, Belfast and Papa Joes, Bangor - Acton & Sons are continuing their domination of the Northern Ireland restaurant scene, along with their executive chef Cath Gradwell and head chef Brian Caldwell.

I was kindly invited along to the event by Chris of Love PR and we spent the evening testing out a selection of delicious small plates, indulging in SHORTCROSS GIN cocktails and chatting to The Godfather of Belfast food, Mr Tom Davis, who founded the original Skandia back in 1968.

I was really excited to see that 95% of the Acton & Sons menu is gluten free and they use the freshest local ingredients, ranging from local fish supplies, Walter Ewing through to even their bar: SHORTCROSS GIN!!

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the GIN please?!

......  YUM!

Acton & Sons are an all day restaurant - serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and drinks.  Also serving a super affordable (£14) pre-theatre menu, and Sunday kitchen carvery.

Location-wise Acton & Sons could not be more ideal - situated 1 minute from the famous Crown Bar and 2 minutes from Great Victoria Street station - perfect for an evening out and last train home.

I know I'll be popping back to Acton & Sons very soon and I hope if you're ever in the neighbourhood, perhaps you will to.
