January 2016 product empties sunsilk la rich directions shampoo review www.eyelinerflicks.com blog

Speedy review time...... yea?

If you've previously read any of my empties posts you'll know I'm TERRIBLE for keeping it short!

But sure I'll keep trying.

Only a few empties this month as I got super distracted with all the lovely items I picked up around Christmas time.

Sunsilk Volumising Dry Shampoo
Now I didn't even know that Sunsilk were still around, I honestly thought they'd been gone a long time but on a rush trip to the local £1 store I picked up this dry shampoo, as fake redhead dry shampoo and I are pure besties y'see.  I'm always a little weary of trying new dry shampoos though as Batiste is great and why mess with greatness? - I'd usually only cheat on Batisite with Lush's No Drought (review here) but on this occasion I was having a messy hair day and needed some lunchtime dry shampoo help...Voila.  The Sunsilk Volumising Dry Shampoo created no volume for my limp locks but it did make my hair feel fresh(er) and left no residue behind.  I'll never expect miracle volume in a can from dry shampoo so as long as my hair feel clean and I can get a brush through it without snapping off a pig-tails worth then it's a win from me.
Verdict: I'll be rebuying this one when I need to.  I'm failry stocked up for now but this is certainly one to pick up for £1.

Now these are something you won't see on the high street.  I use La Riche Directions hair colour on my hair and have done so for over seven years now but this is the first time I've decided to buy the hair care products to go along with the colour.  I picked these up on Ebay when buying my hair colour (tulip and rose red mixed for those who ask) £6.10 for the set is certainly not expensive but this was the first time I'd come across these on Ebay.
In nice 250ml size tubes they lasted me a around a month and helped my hair colour stay locked in.  The shampoo was great, it lathered up well and had a reasonable enough scent but the conditioner was a bit of a fail for me.  The consistency was just all wrong, very runny and I'm sure most of it ended up down the plughole before making it to my head - I think this is perhaps the first time I've ever finished a bottle of shampoo and conditioner at the same time.
Verdict:  I don't think I'd repurchase these.  There are SO many products on the market these days for coloured hair that are more easily accessible and on promotion so although these are designed to work with my hair colour - I've had similar or better results from the likes of L'Oreal or Toni & Guy (review here).

Soap & Glory Peaches & Clean Cleanser
I love this!  There, I said it!  Quick enough review?
OK, obvs I can't leave it there!  This stuff is great, it melts through thick foundation and eyeliner, removes all the daily grime when I'm being lazy and just want to wash my face.
It smells delicious, is available from Boots and usually on offer.
Only thing I don't like about it is the pump bottle - there's still some product in here that I can't get out and that annoys me.  No hiding it, I totally cut this bottle open after the photo was taken.
Verdict: Already have a back up.  Love it.

Garnier Micellar Water
This stuff first featured on my blog early last year (here) when I talked about a lazy girls best friend.  It's awesome, right?!  Most reviews I see of this product say that it's supposed to give 200 uses per bottle and most find that untrue... I'd say it wouldn't be far off it to be honest.  This stuff lasts me AGES.  It's unscented, gentle and removes my thick black emo style eyeliner (yea, I've not grown out of that...so what?).  I wouldn't be without this on my dressing table.
Verdict: It's in my online Tesco order today.  Buy it, you won't regret it.  Lazy girl staple.

Have you tried any of these products?  What have you used up this month?

  1. I was rooting for the La riche shampoo & conditioner as I adore directions! Shame they didn't end up with a repurchase. I've yet to try the garner micellar water, I've heard good things though, I'll have to purchase it when I've finished my simple version.

  2. I love both the Micellar water and Peaches and Clean! I've got my third bottle of the micellar water repurchased and happened to have ended up with a second bottle of Peaches and Clean but I ain't complaining! xx
