2018.

2018 New Year Post www.eyelinerflicks.com
So we made it!

2018 and the buzz words on the streets are still Brexit and Fuck the Instagram algorithm, eh?

I wanted to just take a few moments to empty my mind onto the blog today and talk about what you may expect to see on eyelinerflicks.com in 2018.

As much as I love a fresh start to the year, I've never been a resolution fan myself.  I get why it works for some people but the whole "New Year, New You" diet media culture, shoved in your face type of thing just doesn't float my cherry.  I think it's great to have some goals for the year/ week ahead etc but I'm certainly not planning on swapping my cake for cucumber anytime soon.

2017 for me was a year of plodding along, saying yes to a few too many things and spreading myself a bit too thin for my liking.  www.eyelinerflicks.com has always been a hobby blog and something I kept on the DL in my professional life but in 2017 I made the step of telling my colleagues about it and being more open about what I do in my spare time and why I talk about skincare so gawd damn much and it felt good to be able to share it and now they understand why I buy so many photo props.

In 2018 I plan to strip it back a little.  To stop saying yes to too many things, stop shopping so much and stop setting products aside until I photograph them before I let myself use them, ffs.

I've been lucky to work with some amazing brands over the last year and right now between PR samples, Christmas gifts and my own shopping addiction; I'm jam packed full of products to get testing and sharing my opinions on here.  So in 2018 on www.eyelinerflicks.com you'll see more products reviews, they won't be the latest releases or most fashionable items on the blog circuit at the time but that's something I always loved about my blog in the past; trying new things because I wanted to, not just because I had to.

Back to the cucumber issue, one thing I missed in 2017 was discovering new local eateries in my local area.  One of my favourite things to photograph is food and I'm keen to get back into foodie posts as it's also a wonderful opportunity to catch up with my girls y'see.  Multi-tasking blogging/ social life !

So, if you're a fan of fish or foundation, stick around for 2018 and I'll try and cover all bases.

  2. Happy new year to you!!

I always kinda did resolutions but decided this year not too. Half the times I forget them anyway. I think sometimes it is just better to take every day as it comes and not pressurise yourself into doing anything. Though like you i’m going to try not to stretch myself out this year and say yes to every single thing.

Hopefully I will be able to meet up with all of you a lot more this year and invlove myself a little more. I cannot wait to see what this year brings for you!

  3. I could have swore that I commented on this post but apparently not! The January forgetfulness has set in!

Can definitely resonate with this post, no resolutions for me this year but more so to simply focus on myself, and like yourself maybe try to stop saying yes to so many things. I spread myself out quite thin sometimes and it really ran me down by the end of the year.

I absolutely love the blog and I'm so glad I got the chance to meet you this year! Hopefully I'll be able to get out a little more and meet all the wonderful bloggers <3

Hope you had a wonderful christmas and a happy new year!
