Hair | Babyliss Curl Secret Review

Babyliss Curl Secret Review Eyelinerflicks
I have the straightest hair in the world.  Seriously.  If there was straight hair Olympics, I'd be sweeping that board.  There is nothing I would love more than a head full of long flowing, springy curls that I could swish back and forth like an extra from a Beyoncé video.

It's kind of an ongoing joke in my group of friends.  We try everything in/on my hair to give it a bit of life and so one of my besties went all out and bought me a Babyliss Curl Secret recently.

May Product Empties EyelinerFlicks

I've noticed recently that I have a tendency to do HUGE posts.  I clearly just like to ramble.  Sadly this post is going to be huge too, soz guys.  I'll try to keep my opinion on things short but I seem to have accumulated an absolute TON of empties this month.

Lifestyle | Friday Favs #3

Friday Favs #3

Happy Friday, everyone.  I hope you're all well and looking forward to the weekend.
This week I have been loving so many bits I just had to share them;

First up the polkadot dress & fringe bag.  Now I've mentioned this fringe bag in a previous wishlist but George @ ASDA really are just kncking their affordable fashion out of the park for me right now.  I bought this black fringe bag a few weeks ago and it's the perfect addition to a casual outfit, the perfect size for a night out AND apparently is spot on trend night now.  I love it and for £10 I recommend you all go buy one right now!  The polkadot dress was £10 but is now down to £5 in the sale.  Stock was running low on my last check though so if you are into such things, I'd recommend buying it ASAP.  I had the very same dress from NEXT last year and it cost £28.  The ASDA version washes better and looks exactly the same.  I wear this to work with a wide red belt and red lipstick for a slightly vintage feel.

YSL Parisienne has been my go to perfume for over 5 years now, I tend to buy it when it's on offer as it can be quite pricey but it's just so fresh, fruity slightly floral.  It'd long lasting and I love wearing it this time of year.  If you ever get the chance, give it a good sniff, it's lush.

As always, I've been loving baths but I've found myself reaching for the I Love...Mango & Papaya body wash/ bubble bath more and more recently as it's just so summery.  It's super cheap - I think I got this from Boots for something silly like £2.99.  It's definitely a rival for any LUSH shower gel.

I've also been loving the Montagne Jeunesse face masks, as always - who doesn't like these?!  I'm not really a fan of the peel off masks as I tend to pull out my eyebrow hairs with those ones but I'm all about the clay masks and anything to help my skin is a treat.  Lovely.

Over the last few weeks I have managed to watch Pitch Perfect 2 THREE times and I bought the soundtrack for my car.  I bought a CD!!  Seriously I don't think I'd bought a CD in over 5 years before this one.  It's certainly not going to do my extreme metal cred any favours and I don't care one little bit.  I know Pitch Perfect can be a bit hit and miss for some people but personally for me it's a HUGE hit.  Hilarious.  If you've not seen it, grab your best girlfriends, a bucket of popcorn the size of your head, some clean pants and go, go watch it and laugh your butt off.

The Rimmel Colour Rush Balm in "not an illusion" was another Poundshop bargain - it's been ideal for wearing to the office this week.  These are super hydrating and last well throughout the day.  So easy to apply as they are just chubby crayons.

Staying with bargains, the wonderful ebay contour brush was just too good not to buy.  For £0.99p I just had to buy this.  I don't use it for contouring as I don't contour but I use it for blush and I just love it.  I recommend this to everyone.

And last but most certainly NOT least, this gorgeous copper light fixture is just dreamy.  I've been redoing our guest room at home and this is possibly the finishing piece for the room.  I've yet to put it up but hopefully once I do, I'll do a bit of a room tour, it's worked out to be the nicest room in our house and it never gets used.  I really should've got one for my own bedroom.  Go figure.

What have you been loving this week?

Beauty | Evening Skincare Routine ft Magnitone

Ever since I started getting back on track with my blog I've found that I have turned into some sort of shopping demon and that's not just with make up either, since turning 30 I've come to realise I really should be taking better care of my skin.

So I've found myself investing in a few staple items but also experimenting with various budget skincare items to find the things that work best for my skin.

I recently shared my budget skincare saviours (here) and although I'm still working through and loving all those items,  I have found a great evening routine recently that I just had to share too as it's working for me.

Even though I am in my thirties (sssh though!) I suffer from all sorts of weird and wonderful complexion issues.  I had acne in my youth and still get break-outs.  I have combination skin, huge pores and a fair amount of redness all over my crazy facial head type area.  Madness!

There is nothing I love more than getting home from work and spending some quality "me time".

Right now the star of this show is of course, as the title suggests the Magnitone Lucid*.

My first port of call is to remove my make up, now as I wear Estée Lauder Double Wear, I don't go straight in with my Magnitone.  My foundation can be a stubborn little sod so I get the majority of my make up off with my Garnier Miceller Water.

As I've mentioned in a previous post (here) I was a little late to the Garnier Miceller Water party. This stuff removes my foundation well but it doesn't really give me the deep down clean cleanse that I want after a long day.  I like to use the Miceller water first then move onto my Magnitone.

I'd admit, I have been sceptical of these face brush products and the promises they throw at us.  But I was kindly sent a Magnitone Lucid to try out so who am I to say no?!

Magnitone promise that I will:
"see softer, brighter and clearer skin in just 7 days to give you the perfect canvas for applying your make up or even go make-up free"

Now, I can say right here and now, the no make up deal?  Yea, that will not be happening.  I'm so pale I'd scare the local children so I just don't go make-up free.  BUT after using my Magnitone for almonst a month now I can truly say I have never been happier with my complexion.

I use my Magnitone with my Philosophy Purity Cleanser - a product that I have used on and off now for 3 years (I stock up when it's on offer as it can be quite expensive).  Purity leaves my skin feeling super refreshed.  It has quite a faint scent which is perfect for me as I'm not keen on overly fragrant products on my face.

I use around a 10p sized amount of Purity on my Magnitone brush and apply it to my wet face.

I really like that the Magnitone is fully waterproof so I can use it in the shower or even in the bath too if I'm having a pamper night.  It has a built in timer that beeps every 20 seconds to let you know it's time to move onto a different area of your face, something I found really useful as I think I have been too harsh on certain areas of my face in the past, I used to scrub my chin so much I was getting scared it might fall off so using the Magnitone on the deep cleansing setting means I know I'm getting a good deep cleanse without the harsh abrasive scrubs I have used in the past.

After using my Magnitone and Purity cleanser, I pat my skin dry and grab my Kiehls Calendula herbal alcohol-free toner which I picked up during my recent skincare assessment (post here) now this is a lovely product but I won't be repurchasing it.  As much as I am enjoying using it, toner is a new product for me, I never used it before buying this one.  I love how it seems to sooth my skin and the pretty flowers in the bottle are just adorable but it is not worth the price tag of £34.50.  I just couldn't justify buying this again so I will be looking for an alternative.  If however money is of no concern to you or you are looking for a treat, I would recommend this toner.  If anyone has any budget friendly toner recommendations, shout them out now!

After toner, it's surely almost bedtime, how long is this post!!!!  Cuppa break?!

After toner it's time to add some moisture back into my skin.  As I've mentioned before I have combination skin, but on the most part it's super dry so at the moment I'm trying to rehydrate my body.

I go between two different moisturisers, the Aveeno which I have already mentioned (here) and the Instanatural Youth Express Night Cream and two different serums, the Kiehls Midnight Recovery and the B. replenished Facial Oil.  All 4 of these products have helped me re-inject some plump back into face and I love them all.

Using all of these products has helped my complexion improve to the best I remember in a long time and although I may shake up a few items such as toner and moisturiser, I can't see me giving up on the majority of these items just yet.
Magnitone have kindly passed me a discount code if anyone would like to try their own and I would certainly recommend it.  I really love how my skin is improving since using it so grab your own for 20% off by using discount code: BLOVE20 via

Beauty | Lunchtime Bargains #2

Lunchtime Bargains EyelinerFlicks

My office is in the middle of an industrial estate, it's really not the most exciting surrounding, so on the odd day that I do get to venture outside on my lunch break I make sure to take advantage of the few shops we have surrounding our local food stop (Subway nom)

The Fragrance Shop: Discovery Club Summer 2015

Is it that time of year already?  Back in April I received my first ever Discovery Club subscription box from The Fragrance Shop, you can see my previous post here.

Lush | Phoenix Rising Bath Bomb

Phoenix Rising Lush Bath Bomb Eyelinerflicks

Picked up in my last haul (post here) the Phoenix Rising bath bomb from LUSH seems to be a bit of a cult product.  Everyone I've mentioned it to already seem to love it but, as often as I shop in my local LUSH store, I continued to overlook this little purple blob of happiness.

Food | Morblas Seafood & Grill @ Hilton Glasgow

This past weekend my girlfriends and I went on a little city break to Glasgow to see the awesome Wu Tang Clan (oh yes!) and we treated ourselves to a stay in the Hilton, William Street Glasgow.

Beauty | Skincare Assessment with Kiehls

I'm usually a middle of the road, budget girl.
Y'know the type, I use high a end foundation with a budget brand blush.  I use a £3 concealer and a £12 bottle of shampoo.
