It's kind of an ongoing joke in my group of friends. We try everything in/on my hair to give it a bit of life and so one of my besties went all out and bought me a Babyliss Curl Secret recently.
Upon first impressions it looks pretty damn scary. Could this contraption really be the secret to big bouncy hair for me? If you've yet to encounter the Curl Secret - it's a rather scary hair sucker machine with a built in spinning gadget. You just place your hair at the end, let it get sucked inside, wait for the beeps and VOILA - curls.
I'll admit it, on first use I tested it on my hair extensions as I was so scared to try it on my own hair. What if I got stuck? I don't want to end up with even less hair than I already have.
And it did. I got a hair extension stuck inside. EEEeek. But I know why it happened. I tried to put too much hair in, in one go. I think the trick to this product is patience.

You need to make sure that you section your hair off well. Small sections are key here as it can easily get tangled around the internal sucky chamber (I'm so technical, eh?) so if you have thick hair, it will take you a fair while to get the whole head curled.
Luckily (for this) that I have fine hair and strong arms. It takes me around 15 minutes to do all of my hair properly. I chose not to do my hair extensions this time, so you could see the real final results on my real hair.
I find the Babyliss Curl Secret produces a natural curled look. Personally I would like them to look a little tighter and more uniform as I know they will fall throughout the day. I think if you have thicker hair than me then you would probably get on really well with this product, if you have the time and patience to use it.
It's certainly a product I'll use more and will practice techniques with but for now, I personally find using a curling wand less daunting and I like the more uniform curls that a wand produces - they tend to hold for longer in my hair too.
I am really grateful that I received this item as a gift from a friend as I would never consider paying £120 for a hair product.
I would recommend this product to people who, like myself have trouble curling their hair but I would certainly share a word of caution; follow the instructions, hold the curler the right way up and don't overload it with hair.
You don't want to lose your hair now, do you?!
Have you ever tried the Babyliss Curl Secret?
Wow! Lucky you that a friend bought you this! I have seen this and my fear too was trapped hair, that and my hair is too short for anything like this but the curls look great on you! So does your straight hair to be fair. We always want what we don't have

It's always the way, isn't it :) My hair is getting so long now that I just don't know what to do with it - I'm super lazy normally. So curling it is solving that issue for now.
DeleteThis is like magic, I saw a girl at my gym using this and it really is impressive! Gorgeous hair colour btw!!xx

Thanks SO much <3 It is rather handy but takes a while to get the hang of it.
DeleteThis has been on my wish list since forever but I just couldn't justify the price so lucky you to receive this from a friend. My hair is short now but I might finally take the plunge and purchase this once it's longer. The curls are just gorgeous on you. xx

Thanks SO much, Shireen. I certainly would never have bought it myself but I'm starting to get used to it now. I'd recommend it for when your hair gets longer but just be careful using it x
DeleteMy friend has it and I have seen her using it, it is so much quicker than the rest of curlers I have seen. Amazing, I want to get one, in my wish list :)

That looks awesome. I frickin' love the colour of your hair! I'm crap at curling mine, I'm a weakling lol.

Thanks, my love. The colour takes some work haha. It's taking me a while to get used to having longer hair these days so curling has become my go to, I think my arm muscles are building a tolerance to it :)
DeleteThis looks so good, your hair looks fabulous. I also have really straight hair and it never holds a curl much either so I'd be interested to see how this worked for me! x

I'd totally recommend borrowing one from a friend if you know someone with one to try it out. That's what we did. My friend borrowed one initially and tested it on me than bought me one as a gift a month later.
DeleteMy hair is still holding after a day out in the wind.
Looks so good, but I could just this taking forever on my hair and I am so lazy haha
