Beauty | Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation Review

There are few items in my day to day make up bag that I have a real sense of loyalty to.  But the one item that I can categorically  swear I love is my Esteé Lauder Double Wear foundation.  I have been wearing the same foundation for over 12 years.

Yes, I flirt with many different brands - mainly because the £25 + price tag does make me wince each time I need to buy a new bottle every few months.  I've tried many, many high street alternatives but nothing gives me the coverage I like.

I picked up the Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation in the lightest shade (Opal 15) in my local Boots store this week as it was on promotion and so far it's proving to be very impressive.

It's described as "high coverage" which is perfect for me, as my usual Esteé Lauder is a medium/ full coverage so I want to stay with the same style of product.

I find the formula to be easier to work with compared to the Double Wear, the Dermablend is creamier and easier to blend.  I have a lot of visible pores around my nose and I really liked being able to blend and work with this product a lot more.

The Dermablend is not quite as transfer resistant as the Double Wear but the coverage lasts quite well throughout the day.  The finish is flawless on application but without the "Hey I'm wearing a spade full of make up look".  I did find that I had to touch up around my nose as the day went on, but I was able to just blot, blend and powder rather than add more product.

I've heard many beauty gurus talk about SPFs in foundations causing glare in photos etc.  The Dermablend has SPF35 in and I for one do not care if my face glares, I'd rather some sun protection.

On a whole, I'll certainly be sticking with the Vichy Dermablend.  It doesn't quite stand up to the 16 hours of flawlessness it claims BUT I do have combination skin so I'm not scared of a touch up here and there (oh-er!)

And for around half the cost of my current foundation, I just know I'm going to make this work for my skin.

Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation is currently on offer @ £13.50 in Boots (here) until August 4th 2015.

Have you tried the Vichy Fluid Foundation yet?  Or have you any recommendations for alternative full coverage products?

  1. I've recently fallen in love with Estee Lauders double wear but not the price tag! So I'll deffo look out for this one! I hate buying foundations on a guess and them turning out to be rubbish!

  2. I've got this foundation but I couldn't get it to work properly for me, it sat strange on my skin! I'm going to try it with my beauty blender instead of a sponge and with a more hydrating primer to see how I get on that way. I'd much rather have an SPF in my foundation and a glare on my face too! Great review x

  3. EL is one of my favourites too, I have to mix it with my Illamasqua or KVD to lighten it but it's bloody marvellous. This looks fab but I'm worried about the colour. Haha SPF doesn't bother me as I'm so friggin' pale my porcelain face has its own flashback.
