It's Been A While....

It's Been A While.... an update stock photo

I was about to click "publish" on a new skincare post today when I realised I should address the very obvious elephant in the room.

Prepare yourself for a bit of a brain dump.

It's been almost a year since I last shared some beauty goodness on here, a place that used to be my creative outlet on the internet.

I think it's safe to say 2020 kicked us all in the face but I'll be honest and say I'd lost my way with blogging long before Covid reared it's head.

Planning content was never my strong point.  I never set a schedule that I'd upload posts on certain days and arranging time in my diary to make sure I took photos on my days off and not after work to ensure the daylight was still there etc just became a bit of a chore towards the end of last year.

And then came the blogging experts.....

Every social media feed was packed full of "How To'" guides, tips for increasing your Instagram following and I'd get 90 spam emails a day offering me £2 quid to add links into my blog posts.

Blogging for me has always been a hobby as I also work full time, have 2 dogs and a very messy home; was always just meant to be somewhere I could share my local finds and skincare product addiction in the hope it may help others.

Over time I lost interest in Social Media- it all just seemed so superficial and fake, I was added into Instagram Pods that were promised to be a community but they were really just groups to get likes and comments on each others photos, it just was not for me.  It made me question everything about that app and I found myself rarely using it.

In the last few months I re-evaluated the accounts I follow on social media to ensure that my feeds fill me with joy and creative flow and I'd highly recommend this to everyone.  A good clear out now and then is wonderful for your mental health.  It's not a bad thing at all as your personal tastes change over time and it's completely fine to unfollow accounts you no longer have anything in common with.

Overall, In terms of blogging I had to step back.

And that step back became a little longer than initially intended.

In my personal life we had originally had a wedding to plan for in 2020 which now thanks to Covid, has been rescheduled- I'm sure I'll share more on that in time though.

Life has changed a lot in the last few months.  As soon as Lockdown hit the UK in March 2020 I was sure I would be back to sharing some light hearted thoughts on the blog, I mean what else was I going to do with all this time at home?!

I began working from home in March and it's been pretty intense from the get go as the sector I work in has been non stop throughout the pandemic, so come evenings and weekends, a laptop and blogging was really the last thing on my mind.

Then I had a bit of a health scare when a routine smear test revealed some questionable results.  I was called up quickly for a follow up biopsy which in turn revealed something more.  With one days notice I was back in hospital to have the affected cells removed, a few days on the sofa recovering and a review in 6 months time. As scary as this experience was, all I can think of is how amazing our NHS are, especially during this pandemic.

Heading into Autumn now, I feel like I'm now in a place to start sharing posts again. I want my space to still be lighthearted and fun, I love taking photos for my blog and I know I'll probably curse myself for not taking advantage of the summer days and bright light when it comes to taking photos in the depth of winter.

I need this creative outlet again but I can't promise I'll share 3 posts a week etc.  I want this space to be a good old fashioned hobby blog, I'll post as and when I can and I hope you guys are cool with that.

The easiest way to keep up with my posts are to follow via Bloglovin.

Big Love.
